President Mukherjee asks students to become 'agents of change' for advanced society.India will lose its demographic "dividend" to a demographic "explosion" if it does not train its youth in the skills required to operate in the future world, President Pranab Mukherjee said in Ahmedabad on Sunday. While interacting with the students of 'Bapu Gujarat Knowledge Village and Samarpan Education and Research Campus', he urged students to work hard and "contribute" towards the advancement of the society, to which they belong and come from.(DNA)

CBSE to review affiliation by-laws. The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has set the ball rolling to check the commercialisation of education and is mulling the idea of placing a cap on the maximum fees a school can charge for providing education. The CBSE has set up a committee to review its affiliation bye-laws so as to enable it to combat rampant commercialisation. The committee is expected to make its recommendations within a month. European Higher Education Fair: We need Indian students to raise our standard of education'.European Union Higher Education organized a 2-day free fair for students who are willing to study in Europe, which was inaugurated on Friday, September 30, by Minister of State for External Affairs MJ Akbar at Pragati Maidan. Students who are interested in going for the event can rush to the venue as it is still open. "This partnership bridges the knowledge centres of India and Europe. We are delighted that our works of knowledge are reaching each other. Students are travelling beyond to seek and spread the treasure of information. Through such initiatives together we create prosperity which would reduce economic disparity in society. BRICS countries resolve to increase co-operation in education sector.The BRICS countries Brazil, Russia, China, India and South Africa have resolved to facilitate movement and exchange of students and faculty in each other’s institutions. The countries have a special focus on areas like energy, climate change, water resources and economy. After a meeting of education ministers of the five countries, a ‘New Delhi Declaration of Education’ was issued on Friday in which a 14-point declaration was signed by the countries. “Facilitate mobility of students and scholars and encourage exchange of teaching faculty, especially those working in the areas relating to the six domains identified for cooperation within the BRICS Network University,” one of the points on agreement read.(DNA)
