CBSE launches digital repository 'Parinam Manjusha' to enable students view mark sheets online.The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has come up with digital academic repository called 'Parinam Manjusha', which will allow students to find their mark sheets, pass and migration certificates online. It has been developed by the board in collaboration with NEGD (DigiLocker) and is available at www.cbse.digitallocker.gov.in . According to an HT report, employers and educational institutions can use it to verify academic records and students can have the access to their certificates. (India Today)

IIT JEE 2017: CBSE makes Aadhaar card compulsory. The Central Board Of Secondary Education has made Aadhar card mandatory for all students appearing for JEE (Main) in 2017, except Jammu amd Kashmir, Assam and Meghalaya. In a fresh circular, CBSE has clarified that they have set up facilitation centres for Aadhaar enrolment in cities where the examination is scheduled to be held. The list of the facilitation centre is available on the official website – jeemain.nic.in (Indian Express)

85% CBSE teachers want Class X boards back. In a recent survey conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), 85 per cent teachers have agreed that they want Class X board examinations to be back. Class 5 and 8 students likely to face annual exams, says govt. With a survey indicating the need for significant improvement in their learning levels, the government on Thursday indicated that students of Classes 5 and 8 may have to appear for annual examinations. "According to an annual survey by the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) on the learning achievement of children in Classes 3, 5, 8 and 10, there is a need for significant improvement in learning levels," Minister of State for Human Resource Development Upendra Kushwaha told the Rajya Sabha. IIT student strength to be one lakh by 2020. The overall students' strength of the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) in the country will be enhanced to one lakh by 2020, the government told the Rajya Sabha on Thursday. In a written reply, Minister of State for Human Resource Development Mahendra Nath Pandey said the IIT-Council has approved, in-principle, the proposal for increasing the overall students' strength in the IITs from the current 82,604 to one lakh by the year 2020. NITI Aayog to revamp UGC for better quality education. The regulatory framework of the University Grants Commission (UGC) will undergo revamp to enhance the quality of higher education in India, the government said on Thursday. The NITI Aayog has been assigned to recommend measures for improvement in the regulatory framework of the UGC, Minister of State for Human Resource Development Mahendra Nath Pandey informed the Rajya Sabha. UK scholarships of 1 million pound for Indian students. The UK government is offering scholarships of one million pounds (Rs 85.1 crore) in 2017 to attract Indian students. Debanjan Chakrabarti, director of British Council East India, said the new 198 scholarships under the 'Great' campaign are in subject areas ranging from art and design to engineering, law and management. A total of 40 UK universities are participating in this programme. "Studying in the UK offers Indian students three things - a world-class education, being part of an international student body and the chance to work post study," he said, adding selected students will join over 400,000 international students from 200 countries. From 2017, CISCE to have its own syllabus, from pre-school to class 8.In a first, students studying in pre-school till class VIII in schools affiliated to the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) will have to study a curriculum prescribed by the Board right from academic session 2017-18, said CISCE chief executive and secretary Gerry Arathoon. Till now, the Board prescribed syllabus only for classes IX to XII. Most schools, said Arathoon followed NCERT syllabus for junior classes till VIII. The curriculum prepared by the Board will be released at the 59th annual conference of Association of Schools for the Indian School Certificate (ASISC) beginning in Lucknow from November 23. Kerala govt to sanction funds for Higher Education scholarship.Kerala government is considering sanction of funds for disbursal of higher education scholarship to degree and post-graduate students as supplementary demand for grant, State education minister C Raveendranath has said. The amount of Rs 2,374 lakhs, required for disbursing scholarships pending for the academic period of 2014-15, 2015-16 and 2016-17, would be given to Kerala State Higher Education Council as supplementary demand for grant, Raveendran had informed the assembly on Wednesday.(Times of India)

Govt to tweak RTE to define learning outcomes, says HRD minister Prakash Javadekar. The Union government will tweak the Right to Education Act to include definitions of learning outcomes for Classes I to VIII within three months, Union minister for human resource and development Prakash Javadekar said on Saturday. If implemented, this could lead to revision of examination systems followed by school education boards. (Times Of India)
